Steel Wire Ropes

Wire rope is used continuously across the lifting and rigging industries. Each rope is constructed of several steel strands laid together like a helix; each strand consists of smaller wires laid in a similar way. Every wire rope has three basic components — wires, strands and the core. The core may be fibre (FC) such as sisal, manila or jute, or an Independent Wire Rope Core (IWRC): a smaller wire rope within the strands of the outer rope. Wires are predominantly high-carbon steel, and may also be iron, stainless steel, Monel or bronze.

Carbon steel wire rope is manufactured in various grades — Improved Plow Steel (IPS), Extra Improved Plow Steel (EIPS) and Extra Extra Improved Plow Steel (EEIPS) — designating the nominal strength of the rope.

Our Range Includes
  • General engineering ungalvanized wire ropes 6X19, 6X25, 6X36, 6X41 and non-rotating 19X7, 35X7
  • General engineering galvanized wire ropes 7X7, 7X19, 6X36, 6X41 and non-rotating

Chain Sling

Chain sling assemblies — single, double, triple and quadruple leg configurations with master links and hooks

Chain slings are often selected for high temperatures or rugged conditions that would abrade or destroy other sling types. They are flexible, durable and long lasting, ductile, easy to inspect, collapsible for convenient storage, and adhere securely to the contours of a load.

Although chain shows little or no stretch at rated capacity, it can elongate up to 20% prior to failure — a visual warning to remove the sling from service before injury or damage occurs. The most advantageous feature of a chain sling is repairability: nearly any damaged component found during inspection can be repaired, refurbished, proof tested and recertified — an economical alternative to replacement.

Alloy steel only — chain slings used for overhead lifting must be manufactured from alloy steel (normally 8600-series; Grade 80 / System 8 is the most frequently used). Verify construction by inspecting the chain hallmark, embossed every 12"–18", before use.

AL NAYZEK DRILLING manufactures chain slings using permanent welded coupling links — or mechanical coupling links for quicker field assembly. Every sling carries an identification tag with grade, size, EWL, sling type, working load limit at a specific lift angle, and serial number.

Polyester round slings, color coded by capacity

Round Slings

Lightweight with superior flexibility to conform to the load shape. Polyester load yarns in seamless tubing with no stitched edges to snag; color-coded for size with a high-visibility orange tag noting rated loads, hitch types, core & cover material.

  • Double polyester tubing for abrasion resistance and easier inspection
  • Eye-and-eye type with 2 layers of buffer tubing for durability
  • Sliding sleeves and synthetic armor pads available

Web Sling Protection

Web slings can be damaged, abraded, punctured or cut if not protected. Guard against load edges, jagged materials, abrasion surfaces and burred hooks.

There is no such thing as "cut proof" protection — select the protection material best suited to your application: some materials resist abrasion better, others resist cutting.

  • Phase-error display prevents motor running on incorrect wiring
Manual lever hoists, chain blocks and electric chain hoists
Galvanized bow and dee lifting shackles with screw and safety pins

Shackles

Lifting shackles connect the load lifting device (hoist hook / sling) to the load. Two main styles: "D" (Dee) shackles and bow (Omega) shackles — galvanized, self-color, forged carbon steel. Pin options include screw pin and safety pin (captivated by split pin or nut with split pin).

  • Stainless steel lifting shackles, ROV shackles, hydraulic remote release and wide-body shackles
  • Own Bash-P brand plus Crosby, Van Beest, Gunnebo and other reputed brands
  • Galvanized shackles for added strength; type 316 marine-grade stainless (with molybdenum) for chloride corrosion resistance in marine applications

Hooks, Links & Swivels

Major stocks of high-quality branded rigging equipment, tools and hardware — brands including Bash-P, Johnson Gunnebo, Tractel, Vital, Yoke, Talurit and Crosby. Lifting hooks are usually equipped with a safety latch to prevent disengagement of the sling, chain or rope; swivels allow the connected object to rotate.

  • Grab hook: designed to "grab" and keep a chain from slipping off the hook
  • Slip hook: wider throat, often latched to keep the attached object in place
  • Clevis hook: clevis and bolt or pin at the base for secure fastening to bracket or chain
  • Self-locking hook: will not open under heavy load when used within working load limits
